Another old name in the file sharing industry: Bearshare. Started in December 2001 as a client to the Gnutella-network, it was sold to MusicLab, LLC and made into another client for the “legal P2P” iMesh network.
The new client hasn’t much in common with the old Bearshare, as it is essentially only a rebrand of the iMesh software, which connects to its own, proprietary network: It is more of a software for a commercial music subscription service than a file sharing software.
